A section of the Sagnarigu constituents has described as “total deception”, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) continuous appeal to the Sagnarigu electorates to maintain the party in the next elections.
This was said by some supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the area, when they were speaking on a political discussion dubbed Cheche Baribi Fiila by radio Tamale yesterday, October 8.
According to a man called Zag’Yuri Saha Naa who took the opportunity to speak, he told the people of Sagnarigu that they have been voting for the party since 1992, and there is nothing to show for it.
He said despite this, the NPP has always been supportive and willing to bring development to the area, emphasizing that there are number of examples to justify this claim.
“Let me tell you that some of us joined the NPP because of the NDC’s inability to develop our communities which fall under Sagnarigu district/constituency. And the party has not disgraced us since”, Saha Naa told the gathering.
“As we speak, the NPP, though never won the seat, it still doesn’t affect their willingness to support and bring the needed development to this area. Even this area, we can point out some of the projects. And that is why we must reciprocate this gesture by voting for Dr. Bawumia and Madam Felicia this time around”, he added.
On his part, the constituency secretary, Alhaji Ridwan said the NPP 2024 parliamentary candidate, Madam Felicia Tettey has always supported headdressers and seamstresses anytime there is a “passing out” event.
He said the support comes in a form of cash, donation of sewing machines and headdriers to the apprentices to ease the burden on their parents.
Madam Felicia Tettey was on October 2 acclaimed by the party’s rank and file after she became the only candidate to pick form to contest the parliamentary primaries.
The NPP regional chairman, Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba assured her that she would get the necessary support from the party to enable her win the seat in 2024 to increase their numbers.
