FUSEINI SAFIANU

The communication group of the governing New Patriotic Party NPP in the Northern Region, known as ‘Serial Callers’ have declared an indefinite strike.

This became public following a press conference held today’s Saturday, February 17 in Tamale by the leadership of the callers disclosed that the NPP leadership in the region has been promising and failing them, leading to frustration of some members.

Below is the statement in full :

N.P.P SERIAL CALLERS IN THE NORTHERN REGION ARE ON STRIKE FOR
POOR WELFARE AND REMUNERATION
NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY

Fellow Patriots, we wish to announce our decision to all major stakeholders in our beloved party, New Patriotic Party (NPP), our friends in the media and the general public to seize communicating for and on behalf of the party and the government with immediate effect.

This development has become necessary following the increasing frustrations of our members as a result of failed promises by our party Regional Executives for some years now to cater for the socioeconomic welfare of our members.

Particularly, the Regional Communication Directorate and the leadership of the party in the region has taken us for granted for a very long time upon the numerous complains we lodge before them, which has fallen into deaf ears hence this strike.

Below are but a few of some of the request members have over the period requested to improve the welfare of members which leadership of the party have failed to address:

1. Jobs for some of our colleagues with the requisite qualifications.

2. Agricultural support for those who are farmers.

3. Financial support for those who are doing business.

4. Scholarship for those who are students.

5. Communication gadgets to propel our work for the party.

The Communication Director has promised us on several times to help improve upon our living standards and the latest one was September 2023, when our Director of Communications told us that he will fulfill the promise he made to us at the end of September.

This is yet to fulfill even though we are now in 2024 and there’s no update even on any effort being undertaken to fulfill this promise.

It is worth to note that, some of our members who had their own little capitals to run their own micros businesses have lost their capitals because they have devoted much of their time advocating for the party.

All members are expected to comply with the strike actions and anyone or group of persons who defy this will face sanctions within the group.

We don’t expect any of our members to call through any radio or television program to make any commentary for and or behalf of the party until further notice.

We love our dear party but we cannot continue working for the party in our present conditions. We are handicapped.
