Deputy Minister of Transport and Member of Parliament for Gushegu Constituency, lawyer Hassan Tampuli has assured the people of the Northern Region that the finance minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam will continue to stay in the office, if the vice president and New Patriotic Patty’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia becomes the president of the country.

Lawyer Hassan Tampuli who is a closed associate of the minister made the remarks when he was speaking at NPP gathering in Aboabo, a suburb of Tamale Central Constituency during the visit of the  Karaga MP to officially thank them on his appointment as finance minister by president Akufo-Addo.

“I am neither the president nor his vice. In fact, I am not the flagbearer. But, if Dr. Bawumia wins the 2024 elections to become president, Dr. Anta will continue to be our finance minister. It will remain here in Aboabo. So we need to thank the president, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo”, lawyer Hassan Tampuli said at the event.

“The country became independent in 1957. Since then nobody has ever become minister for finance from the Gbewaa clan. I am referring to Dagombas. Kusasis. Manprusi. Frafras. Nanumbas. In all the five Northern Regions, it has never happened. You name them, apart from our brother, Dr. Anta. So we all need to rally behind him to succeed”, he added.

He added that this is a great time for Muslims in Ghana, emphasizing that for the first time a Muslim became a flagbearer of a governing party, and first time a Muslim became a finance minister means a lot the north and Muslims in general.

Lawyer Tampuli however called on Muslims across the country to vote for the NPP to continue the good works it has started under president Akufo-Addo.

Until his appointment, he was the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, and will take over from Ken Ofori-Atta who served in office for seven years.

Dr Amin Adam was in February 2023 appointed as the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, after President Akufo-Addo asked Charles Adu Boahene to step aside following an investigation by Ace Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
