A section of the governing New Patriotic Party NPP across social media platforms have begun pointing accusing fingers at the MASLOC boss, Hajia Abibata Saani Mahama describing her as a backstabber, following the results of the just ended presidential primaries in the Yendi constituency.

Commenting on this on a condition of anonymity, one of the (NPP) communicators alleged that Hajia Abibata was behind fighting the MP for the area, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, preparing the ground for the upcoming parliamentary primaries in the constituency.

The communicator said the NPP in Yendi was suspicious of the support of Hajia Abibata Saani towards the campaign of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and it actually turned out that her supporters were told not to vote for the veep, resulting in the number Kennedy Agyapong got.

Though, Hajia Abibata was seen on a number of platforms campaigning for Dr. Bawumia ahead of the November 4 NPP congress, including using her own redio station, Sankara radio in the Yendi constituency.

When Justice FM’s Yunus Yirifa Yunus wrote about the results saying, “Yendi results shocked me. Farouk and Abibata have work to do oo”, Jalil H. Wonder who is an NPP supporter in the constituency replied, “Power play between them and their camps caused that bro.”

Yendi constituency was one many political analysts believed the vice could get 100% endorsement out of the 18 constituencies in the northern region, but at the end of the elections, he got 545 ( 70.3%), while Ken Ohene Agyapong polled 219 (28.2%).

Their two (2) contenders, Dr. Afriyie Akoto managed to get 7 (0.009%) and Francis Addai Nimoh 4 (0.005%), with rejected votes being 3.

There is seemingly strong rivalry between the camp of Hajia Abibata Saani Mahama and Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama who all contested in 2019 NPP parliamentary primaries to represent the party in the 2020 elections, but the MP, FAM was able to defeat then deputy MASLOC boss.

Information out there indicates she is lacing her boots to make a return to contest again in the upcoming parliamentary primaries.
