The NPP Sagnarigu Constituency Parliamentary Candidate, Felicia Tettey has condemned the assault on the regional treasurer of the opposition NDC, Hajia Shamima Razak allegedly by her vice chairman, Alhaji Hamid Gbewaa.

I’m a press statement by the Sagnarigu NPP 2024 candidate, she described the assault as “uncalled for” and violation of human rights, calling for action to be taken to punish persons behind the action.

I strongly condemn any form of political violence, especially when it targets women. The recent assault on Hajia Shamima Razak, Ndc Northern Regional Trusurer is not only uncalled for but also a grave violation of human rights. It is essential that immediate action is taken to address this issue and ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.

Political violence undermines the principles of democracy and equality, and it is crucial that we stand together to condemn such acts. Women should not be subjected to violence or intimidation simply for expressing their political beliefs or participating in the democratic process.

We must create a society where everyone feels safe and empowered to engage in political activities without fear of violence or harassment. It is the responsibility of both individuals and institutions to promote a culture of respect, tolerance, and inclusivity.

I call on authorities to thoroughly investigate this incident and take appropriate measures to ensure justice is served. Additionally, it is important to implement policies and programs that educate and raise awareness about the importance of gender equality and the prevention of violence against women in political contexts.

Let us work together to build a society where everyone, regardless of gender, can fully participate in politics and contribute to positive change without fear of violence or discrimination”.

According to reports, the Northern Region NDC First Vice Chairman, Alhaji Gbewaa, yesterday , assaulted the regional Trusurer over misunderstanding , at NDC Northern Regional Office.

She has since reported the assault to the Northern regional Police command for the arrest and prosecution of Alhaji Gbewaa, NDC Northern Region First Vice Chairman
