The Mion Constituency chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Abdulai Zakaria, who was suspended has been officially reinstated.

His reinstatement was announced by the party’s Deputy National Communications Officer, Ako Gun yesterday’s Saturday, March 16, at the party office in Sang.

Speaking exclusively to radio Tamale’s Fuseini Safianu after addressing the party supporters, Alhaji Zakaria told the NDC that the suspension has not affected his contribution towards the NDC a bit.

“To be very frank, ever since the decision to suspend me was taken, I have not allowed it to affect my contribution to the party in the constituency. And let me add, if the constituency executives are not careful, I will even outdo them”, the reinstated chairman told the gathering.

“Our main concern is to win our seat back. The seat has been for the NDC until the unfortunate incident that led to the party losing it. I am very certain we are going to win the upcoming parliamentary elections with a very wide margin this year”, Alhaji Zakaria added.

It will be recalled that Alhaji Zakaria was suspended in March 2021 for three (3) months, following allegations of breaching of the party’s disciplinary codes for members, during the 2020 general elections.

In a statement signed by the Northern Regional Secretary, Mohammed Abdul Salam, the statement said a petition for the removal of Mr. Zakaria was received from one, Mohammed Abukari, and endorsed by some 111 registered members of the party.

The statement, which announced the suspension, also indicated that the petition was referred to the regional disciplinary committee for further actions.

Meanwhile, the Deputy National Communications Officer, Ako Gun said when you are suspended by the party for a certain period, and the suspension is over, the party does not need to write to inform you or the general public again, you can start working for the party ASAP.
