The Northern Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mohammed Bantima Samba has said that Ghanaians are now happy because the economy is doing well as compared to what happened last year regarding the country’s economy.

Chairman Samba made these comments when he appeared on Tamale based majority radio last night, October 22 where he granted exclusive interview with the station to respond to the party’s flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong on the later’s visit to the northern region.

“… we needed to make sure Ghanians were happy. AMD yes, they’re happy now. The inflation that was going up is now coming down. Now everything is normal. Businesses are doing well. Contracters are being paid. Teacher trainees are paid of their allowances”, he told the host.

“But ask yourself, was the situation the same under NDC government led by president Mahama? Nothing was happening. They cancelled the teachers and nurses allowances. And at the end of the day, John Mahama crashed the economy. That is why we are facing the current situation in the country”, chairman Samba added.

According to the northern regional chairman of the NPP, things will get better, when the vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia finally becomes the party’s flagbearer and subsequently the president of Ghana.

Even though, most Ghanaians believe there is so much hardship in the country, with the president himself admiting this, some party faithfuls including the Regional Chairman believe otherwise.
