Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu has responded to the former president John Mahama’s economy policy dubbed – 24 hour economy saying it is going to make it difficult for for farmers to sleep with their wives, when implemented in future.

The minister said this during an event organised by the NPP’s flagbearer’s team to thank the chiefs and people of the area for their support during the party’s flagbearership race on November 4 that resulted in him succeeding president Akufo Addo.

“And the Vice President says he understands the region. He says this 24-hour economy, eei, my brothers. When we work in our farms in the night we have to sleep with our wives oo. You want farmers to be in the farms and people will come and sleep with our wives? We have to be careful about this 24-hour thing”, he told the gathering.

Many Ghanaians have since expressed anger at the minister for his comments, with some saying that if they were the President, Stephen Yakubu wouldn’t be in the office as again, describing him as a “joker”.

“If I were the President, this joker will not be a minister of a region – Johnnies Hughes said on 3FM’s Johnies’ bite.
