Walewale NPP primaries : Bawumia’s darling boy makes sister 1 term MP

Economic Advisor at the Office of the Vice President, Dr. Tia Abdul-Kabiru Mahama has defeated the minister of gender and social protection, Hajia Abudu Lariba who doubles as a family sister to the vice president in the just ended Walewale NPP parliamentary primaries.

The parliamentary primaries which was held yesterday, January 27 saw Dr. Tia Abdul-Kabiru emerging as victor with votes of 343 while the veep’s sister managed to poll 334 votes, with the rest getting 145 and 1 votes respectively.

Walewale constituency is currently occupied by Hajia Lariba Abudu whose political growth is tied to her relationship with the vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

It is not clear how she is related to the veep, but sources say she was groomed by Dr. Bawumia’s late mother, and it was due to this she was appointed to serve as NDA deputy CEO in the first term of Akufo-Addo led government and latter gender minister.

Hajia became a minister when she succeeded in winning the Walewale seat for the NPP in 2020 general elections and was subsequently appointed by the president to replace Madam Adwa Sarfo.
