The governing New Patriotic Party NPP Northern Regional Secretary, Professor Hudu Zakaria has told the beleaguered parliamentary candidate hopeful in the Bimbila constituency primaries, Alhaji Ahmed Zaruk that the party is not begging him to contest the upcoming parliamentary primaries.

Prof Hudu said the reaction was necessitated by Ahmed Zaruk that he won’t go to Bimbila constituency to fill portions of the nomination forms that has become a bone of contention, and that his team gave the party up to yesterday’s 5 p.m. to bring the documents to him in Tamale or he would advise himself.

Speaking exclusively on radio Tamale’s Cheche Baribi Fiila yesterday Sunday, January 7, the NPP Secretary asked, “I will be surprised if he wants to lead the people of Bimbila and yet, does not want to go there to fill or sign the forms to enable him contest the election. Why is he afraid to go back to Bimbila to sign the forms?”

When told that Ahmed Zaruk said the NPP regional Sec and the chairman should havd allowed him to sign the forms in Tamale where the vetting took place, Prof said, “There is a portion for the constituency executives to fill as witneses. And is he (Zaruk) saying they should also be carried to Tamale to do that? He should stop acting like we are begging him to contest the primariess.”

According to Prof, he was sent by the vetting committee to get Zaruk sign the form to enable him be part of the process, but if he decides not to come to Bimbila to do so, he the secretary would only return the form to the committee that assigned him, and to him, that is likely to be the end of the road for Zaruk.

Earlier yesterday, Zaruk held press conference and said, “For Chairman Samba the only way I could be part of the parliamentary process is to go back and fill the form, which I declined for the following reasons. I will not go to Bimbila to sign the nomination form. Remember in Bimbila there was tension from the very day the vetting list was released. The youth are still angry. The people there are still not happy with how I’m treated there by regional executives of my party. I have been receiving calls day in Day out from my people giving different forms of advice. In short they are not happy with the way I am being treated.I know people are still angry and I’m trying hard to console them. I can’t guarantee what will happen in Bimbila, if I go there fill the form in the presence of people that be the suspect of what is going on”.

“The second reason I wouldn’t go for signing is that the vetting committee chairman ordered me to sign the form in Tamale why has at all chairman Samba want to prevent me from doing so? Why is Chairman Gandoyili doo prevent me from doing? Why is secretary Amos prevent me from doing same”, he added.
