The NPP Communication Director for Walewale Constituency, Dr. Issah Abdulai has bemoaned the attitude of the MP for the area, Hajia Lariba Abudu, blaming the vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for her actions.

Speaking to Tamale based Zangali radio over the recent court injunction against the party’s parliamentary candidate, Dr. Kabiru Mahama, the communications director says the MP, who is a sister to Dr. Bawumia is destroying the veep.

“The same album that elected Bawumia and he got 100% in the presidential primaries is the same album that elected the candidates, Dr. Kabiru Mahama Tia and Hajia Lariba Abudu is describing the delegates as strangers and dead people. So who gave those people accreditation?”, Dr. Abdulai asked.

“So those of us here are looking at Dr. Bawumia. Because it is his sister who is going to destroy him and the party in Walewale Constituency. We thank God for that. It is not any other person. Because what is happening now tells us the kind of persons we are dealing with”, he stated.

The Tamale High Court placed an injunction on Dr Mahama Tia Kabiru restraining him from holding himself as the elected parliamentary candidate of the NPP for the Walewale constituency in the North East Region.

The ruling, delivered on Monday, June 24, by Justice Richard Kugyapaw, follows a challenge to the election results by the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hajia Lariba Zuweratu.

In January this year, Dr Kabiru, a 35-year-old PhD holder and Vice Presidential special advisor, narrowly defeated Hajia Lariba in a tightly contested primary.

The election, conducted under heavy security with the presence of regional and constituency executives, saw Dr Kabiru winning with 345 votes to Hajia Lariba’s 338 votes.
