Northern Regional correspondent for Citi FM & Citi TV, Mohammed Aminu M. Alabira has said that the 7 days ultimatum given to him and his employers to “retract and apologize” has elapsed, adding that the MP should be fast about the court process.

Alabira made the remarks when he was responding to the recent banter between Ghana Journalists Association and National Media Commission over his alleged assault by Yendi MP, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama during the NPP parliamentary primaries on January 27.

“Was he not the one who started the issue of court? Didn’t he give us 7 days to apologize or meet him in court? If he doesn’t, we will sue him. We also need the money he was mentioned in his demand notice”, the angry journalist told radio Tamale’s host, Fuseini Safianu today, February 12 on Ashahara Nye Dini.

The management of Citi FM/Citi TV few days ago reaffirmed its commitment to seek justice for the journalist following the alleged attack on him.

Mohammed Alabira was assaulted by the Yendi legislator and his team while filing a report on the chaos that erupted during the counting process at the polling station.

Speaking at a joint news conference organized by the Ghana Journalists Association in Accra on Tuesday, February 6, the legal representative for Citi FM/Citi TV, Selorm Adonoo, explained that the organization will not relent in pursuing the matter and getting justice for the reporter.
